Arriving from Andrássy út to the Hősök tere (Heroes' Square), on our left we may find one of Budapest's largest museums. The building was completed in 1906, in "historizing" style and houses excellent permanent and great seasonal art exhibitions. Apart from the works of Bellini, Giorgione, Raffael, Correggio, Leonardo da Vinci, Dürer, of the senior Brueghel, Bernart van Orley (portrait of Charles V - V. Károly), Rubens, Frans Hals, the Spanish El Greco, Velazquez, Murillo and Goya there is also a rich Egyptian collection and through the collection of the works of Delacroix, Gauguin, Monet, Renoir and Corot one may also gain insight into the 19th-20th Century French art. The graphic collection of the museum is one of the richest in Europe.
