In the castle district, in a building originally designed as barracks and embraced by Kapisztrán Square and Tóth Árpád Promenade, we may find the Museum and Institution of Military History. Tourist attractions can be found outside the museum as well, where at the meeting point of the western and northern bastion-walks is a large circular bastion, with its accompanying walls and the museum's collection of cannons that usually attracts the attention of children. This big circular bastion (Rondella) had military purposes as well, ensuring a free view over the opposite hills, the Rózsadomb and a part of Óbuda (Old Buda). Through its many thousand piece collection of arms (weapons), service-uniforms, medallions, flags and fine arts artefacts, the museum's exhibition presents Hungarian military history. The set of buildings surrounds a courtyard which often gives room to many summer concerts and performances.
