As an effect of the Millenium exhibition of 1899, the Museum of Transport was established in the Városliget, gaining its current form by 1966. The museum is one of Europe's oldest transportation collections, with a railway-model famous world-wide. In the museum itself, a railway station of the 1900s was also set up and there is a 424 locomotive on its terrace. The 1:5 scaled engine models, so unique to Europe, the genuine cars, motorcycles, trams and models of ships present the evolution of Hungarian transportation. In the nearby Petőfi Csarnok we may find an exhibition of the most exciting chapters of history of aviation and space flight. It is accessible for the disabled.
